Regarding the crashes that a few of you are experiencing... First off, have you installed the 1.05 patch? If not, please do so. You can get the patch here... 1.05 PATCH.

Please use the forum to report bugs and crashes and we will do our best to help you out. Also, if you are reporting a crash or bugs, please list your system specs and what settings you are running the game at. This will help us, or other forum users, to help YOU.

Also, a few people have reported a show-stopper bug on the first level at the bottom of the first elevator (where the guy is beating on the door). I think the problem is coming from the fact that you've killed the guy and he lands on the elevator's trigger, thus causing the elevator not to come down. To solve this, reload an earlier game (one where you haven't killed that guy yet) and when you get to him again, LET HIM COME TO YOU before killing him. Don't kill him right next to the elevator. That should fix it. Also, I think that guy actually triggers the elevator to come HIMSELF. So it's already on its way down while he's standing there I think. So, like I said, lure him away from that spot and kill him. The elevator should arrive shortly after you kill him. If it dosen't, trigger it by walking up to the doors.

Regarding the "freeze" bug, read the manual, it is addressed there.

KATANA STRATEGIES

If you find that the game is hard. Well, you're right, IT IS. But, once you learn the controls (which will take a while), it becomes much easier. Learn those controls and the right strategy, and you might just breeze through it. After playing through it over and over again for the past 2 years, the only time I even have to save now is before a boss fight.

Here are a few strategies.

First, don't let yourself get surrounded until you have mastered the controls. Back yourself into a corner if you have to. If you don't know the controls and get surrounded, you will die fast.

Use your health. Health is scattered all around the levels, search them out, find them, and USE them. You might notice that you regenerate health at a constant rate. Even while you are just running around or standing still. You regenerate even faster when you pull off combos. A couple of combos will regenerate you at an incredible pace. Use the combos that regenerate you the most when you are low on health.

While using the Katana, your health regenerates faster than with any other weapon. You are ENCOURAGED to use the Katana.

The Marko Battle. This one will probably give people fits. But, yes, it CAN be done without cheats. There are 2 stages to the battle with Marko. BEFORE he puts on the power-gloves and AFTER he puts on the power-gloves.

The best strategy for the BEFORE is to use the basic JAB against him. He tends not to counter-attack well from it (which is important in keeping you alive), plus you get a lot of health regenerated from that move. So, do a basic jab, and either cartwheel or backflip away. Then, wait for him to come to you. When he gets within range, jab him again, the back off a bit and repeat.

The best strategy for the AFTER is to just stick him once and back off, then repeat. If you try to go toe-to-toe with him at this point you are just asking to die. And if you see him start to go into his power-slam, immediately either cartwheel away or backflip away. Get out of the range of that slam quickly or you will die. Also, watch out for all the falling blocks and debris. Also, in the AFTER, you don't HAVE to fight him to the death. There is another much easier way to kill him off. I'll let you guys figure that one out on your own. If you don't figure it out, you'll have to fight him to the death, and once he's got those gloves charging him up, it will be a LONG, BLOODY battle that you'll be lucky to survive.

MONDAY, 09-27 / IT'S HEEEERRRREEEEE!!!

Did you hear that? That was the sound of the fabric of time/space ripping! And what caused such a cataclysmic event to occur? Why Katana is finished, silly. You can now go grab Katana for you very own selves. Yes. It's true. And no, I'm not bullshitting you.

NEWSFLASH: Excited Katana fans rejoice worldwide

As a side note, once you guys get the game, be sure to do a couple of things. First read the manual, it will increase your enjoyment of Katana and hopefully head-off any of the technical questions that I KNOW are gonna pop up anyway. . Maddie did a wonderful job of putting that manual together. It's in PDF format, so you guys can go ahead now and head over and grab Adobe Acrobat Reader. There's a free version available here...

Also, make sure your speakers, soundcard and windows sound setting are all set up right. A lot of the sounds, speech and music in the game WILL NOT sound best if you don't have your sound system set up right. And speaking of music, turn the volume up all the way in your game sound settings. The music played during combat adds a LOT to the immersion factor and makes you really feel like a bad-ass killing machine.

You know you want it. Go get it. And then let the flames and criticisms begin! he he. Seriously, we hope you enjoy it. It was a LOT of work, so you damn well better. Just kidding. But it WAS a lot of work. I lost a lot of sleep, two girlfriends, a lot of my hair and most of my sanity during the creation of this massive undertaking. Maddie lost his virginity (wait, does that count?), all of his patience, massive amounts of his study time (if he fails any of his college courses, it's YOUR fault) and his left index finger to bring this thing to you.

I want to extend my thanks, once again, to Maddieman. It took both of us killing ourselves to get this thing done, and it certainly wouldn't be here without both of us. Thanks, Maddie. You da best!

And please send all flames, hate mail and horrid criticisms to Maddieman@aol.com. Just kidding... just kidding. Hey... Come on Maddie! Now, you just put down that sword. Come on, I was just playing around. I was just cutting up. WAIT! Not such a good choice of words. ULP..... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

[EDITOR]: Please post any problems, criticisms, gushing praise or questions in either the Official Katana forums or in the Katana thread at Froz Mods Boards or in the 3DRealms forums. Have a nice day.

Also, the Katana Demoreel is now hosted on FileFront. Like any of you care, as you can get the real thing now. ;)
